Precautions in Import and Export Air Transport

The precautions in import and export air transportation mainly include the following aspects:

1. Requirements for outer packaging of goods:

The goods must be securely packaged, not exposed, and comply with international transportation standards.

It is best to use export wooden crates, such as plywood, mixed boards, etc., to avoid using wooden crates made of raw wood, as many countries have restrictions on raw wood crates.

For oversized and overweight goods (gross weight greater than or equal to 60KG), palletizing is usually required for forklift handling. The tray should be flat in contact with the ground.

2. Security requirements:

Each shipment must be accompanied by a safety certificate.

For LCL cargo, a list must be attached.

Chemicals, powdered and liquid goods, as well as goods containing batteries, must be accompanied by relevant certificates, such as airline certification and relevant department certification (such as MSDS).

3. Quantity determination of goods:

It is best to ensure the accuracy of the number of goods before they arrive at the airport, as this is related to the speed of warehousing and the workload of the airport.

The number of items provided by the general shipper may not be accurate, and the operator should verify the accurate number of items again after the goods are delivered or as soon as possible.

The accuracy of the quantity directly affects the validity of the air freight label written.

4. Docking:

When booking, attention should be paid to whether the individual cargo is a large cargo.

For goods with a single gross weight exceeding 80KG, it is usually necessary to palletize or make an appointment with the airport in advance for palletizing.

5. Total level of goods:

If airport warehouse personnel can have a concept of graded weight when entering the warehouse, such as+45KG,+100KG,+300KG,+500KG,+1000KG, it will be helpful for controlling freight risk.

If there is a significant difference between the actual weighing weight and the class weight at the time of booking, it is necessary to provide timely feedback to the salesperson.

In addition to the above precautions, it is also necessary to understand and comply with the import regulations of the destination country or region in advance for import and export air transportation, prepare and provide correct documents and certificates, pay attention to the restrictions and prohibited items imposed by airlines on goods, and consider the insurance needs of the goods. It is recommended to cooperate with professional freight forwarders and logistics companies, and follow their advice and guidance to ensure smooth air transportation of goods.
